The combined development and research project ”Curricular Innovation of Study Plans in the disciplinary area of System Engineering” was initiated in August 2011 at the Universidad National, Costa Rica. The project started out in October 2011 when Ph.D. student Marianne Riis from e-Learning Lab visited the School of informatics and gave a lecture on the general principles of Problem-Based Learning (PBL). During the autumn an online course on PBL was carried out by Ph.D. student Carola Hernández Hernández, Department of Learning and Philosophy, Aalborg University. In January 2012 professor Marianne Lykke, e-Learning Lab followed up during a week-long visit to the School of Informatics in Heredia.
